Our Mission Statement: Show Me the Way Foundation aspires to provide mentoring, educational, and positive group activities for children and youth infected/ affected with HIV/ AIDS and or various health disparities.  Our goal is to instill confidence, perseverance, leadership, and knowledge by uplifting spirits, providing positive advice, guidance, and factual information on health awareness.

We are continuously striving to make an impact and promote change by educating people that children diagnosed with AIDS, HIV, and other terminally devastating diseases still have many attributes and things to offer.  Our goal is to make the journey after diagnosis as comfortable, special, and rewarding as possible

  Background

SMWF was founded by president, Tashawnya Menefee after working for the Center of Disease Control in Atlanta, GA.  Menefee was emotionally torn and devastated over the alarmingly high statistics of children as orphans and grieving mothers and fathers restless yearly with rising deaths and infection rates among African Americans in mostly urban areas.  The Board of Directors support the mission of SMWF and wanted to support the beckoning call for education and emotional support for youth living with this crippling disease and believe that a local urgency in Atlanta, (Fulton County), Gwinnett (Gwinnett County), and Decatur, (Dekalb County) GA must exist.  We will also focus attention on Public Middle schools, and High Schools, Grady Hospital in Atlanta, GA and various Foster Care Facilities of orphans of parents that died of AIDS.
